FALL SOFTBALL

The Fall season begins on September 2nd with two weeks of practices before games start on September 2nd.  Typically there will be two practices a week and one game a week with games likely on Saturdays.  The season ends with the last game on November 1st.

DESCRIPTIONS OF EACH AGE LEVEL ARE BELOW:

Pee Wee Softball- 1st and 2nd Grades (Kindergartners are encouraged to play Instructional Baseball for learning purposes)

Coaches introduce players to softball fundamentals, including proper throwing mechanics, hitting fundamentals, basic fielding skills, the names and locations of field positions, and base running. We emphasize having fun together as a team, learning positive sportsmanship, and developing players’ confidence in their athletic abilities. This is a coach pitch league. Base path is 55 feet.

Intermediate League Softball- 3rd, 4th and 5th Grades

This is a player pitch league. Fundamentals include: proper throwing mechanics, batting stance and hitting, fielding skills, catching, proper pitching and base running. We emphasize having fun together as a team, learning positive sportsmanship, and developing player's confidence in their athletic abilities. Base path is 60 feet and pitchers mound is 35 feet from home plate. If the count from the batter reaches four balls, the coach of the batting team steps in to pitch five pitches. The batter either strikes out, gets a hit, or runs out of pitches.

Junior League Softball- 6th, 7th and 8th Grades-

This is a player pitch league. Base path is 60 feet, and pitchers mound is 40 feet from home plate.
